Our Story

Computerbank Victoria was founded in 1998 by Kylie Davies, who recognised that discarded business computers were heading to landfill while a growing digital divide left many unable to afford a computer. What started as a social work project at Victoria University became a Melbourne institution.

For over 25 years, we've been recycling and refurbishing donated computers, installing them with Linux Mint and free open-source software, and providing them at minimal cost to low-income individuals, students, asylum seekers and community groups.

Today we operate from Broadmeadows, sharing warehouse space with ESE (Enable Social Enterprises), a social enterprise leading the way in IT asset disposition and circular economy practices.
